The American atitude

Guam, where is an amazingly Japanised sightseeing spot. Almost 90% of visitors are Japanese and then most of signs are written in Japanese, therefore all the Japanese tourlists don't necessarily have to speak English here since the island welcomes them along with Japanese speakers. However, here is a part of United states, which is an absolute fact. The images from the different places imply what the US actually thinks about.

As an international flag protocol, when a national flag is displayed along with the national flags of other countries, all the flags should be of approximately equal size and must be flown at an equal height. The left one is at the Pacific War Museum and the right one is at the Guam airpot.

Now it should not be possible to ignore the way in which the US regards Japan as a nation behind its back.

 

同盟国の正体

グアム、そこは驚くべきほどに日本化した日本人向けの観光地だ。訪問者のほぼ9割が日本人で、殆どの看板が日本語で書かれている。この島は日本人観光客を温かく向かい入れる。彼らは日本語を話すことが出来るため日本人は何の苦労も必要ない。しかしここはあくまでアメリカの一部。これは紛れもない事実なのだ。異なる2箇所を写し出したこの写真には、そんな米国の本音が見え隠れする。

国旗掲揚の国際マナーとして、1国がその他の国々と共に国旗を掲揚する場合、全ての国旗がおよそ同じ大きさでかつ、同じ高さに掲揚されなければならないというものがある。左の写真はグアムの太平洋戦争博物館で、右はグアム国際空港での国旗。同盟国アメリカが、相手国をどのように捉えているかを端的に示している。
